A tight par 4 to start. The green is small and protected by two greenside bunkers. Safety Information: General public have right of way on the footpath between 1st & 2nd fairways.
Pro's TipThe key to getting off to a good start is to keep your tee shot short of the fairway bunker. The approach shot to the green is quite forgiving, despite bunkers guarding both the front left and right of the green. With the green running from front to back, the best play is to aim for the front allowing shots to filter to the middle avoiding the rough at the back.

A tough par 4 from the back tees. Safety: general public have right of way on public footpath between 1st & 2nd fairways
Pro's TipThe second hole is regarded as one of the trickiest on the course. The tee shot varies in difficulty depending on the tee set chosen. Aim down the left half of the fairway to open the green for the approach shot. With bunkers lining the left side of the green there is little reward to attacking left pin positions - front-centre of the green is an ideal shot on a hole where a bogey 5 is a good score.

A long par 3 with a green that slopes right to left. Safety: Allow those playing 6th to tee off before proceeding to green Allow golfers on 6th tee to play before proceeding to the green. Players on 6 should allow you to play before they proceed to 6th fairway, but be aware as mistakes happen
Pro's TipThe first of 4 challenging Par 3's. Few golfers will be able to hit the green; if they do, the chances are the ball will finis back-right with the shalow but wide design. Missing this green left looks a safe option although is best avoided due to the green sloping from front left to back right quite severely. The best place to miss is to the right hand side allowing a chip/pitch played up the green with control. A bogey here is a good score for the majority of golfers.

A Par 3 that looks quite straightforward, although many players get caught out by the elevation change from the tee shot, whilst trying to avoid the two bunkers guarding the front of the green. Shots that bounce out the back of the green often find their way rolling into scrubland and bushes, making up-and-downs rather tricky. A precision tee shot is required on a green that slopes from right to left. The best miss is to be short of the green allowing an uphill chip for a stronger chance of saving par.

A short par 4, but with danger left and right. Practise putting green to left of the 5th green is OOB. Safety: 1. Bigger hitters need to be aware of players on 3rd and 6th tees who may be in range 2. Keep your distance and wait for players on 6th tee to play their shots before proceeding to the green
Pro's TipThe first of our risk and reward Par 4's. The yardage entices many longer hitters to attempt to drive the green, chasing a eagle/birdie, although with a narrow green guarded by trees and bunkers, this is a challenge. The safer shot is into the wider part of the hole just short of the fairway bunker, leaving a wedge to the green.

Safety: 1. Those who have made their tee shots on 3 should allow you to tee off, but be aware, as mistakes can happen. 2. Be aware of players short of 3rd green - only tee off when they have reached the green. 3. Allow those on 3rd tee to play before proceeding to fairway. 4. When leaving tee, be aware of golf balls across 5th fairway towards 5th green.
Pro's TipThis hole provides few challenges being straight with space either side of the fairway in the landing zone. With a slight elevation to the green it is best to take a little more club despite the green sloping to the back. It is quite common for players to fall short of this green leaving a tricky chip shot.

Looks an easy, short par 4, but narrow tee box and narrow opening makes for a challenging tee shot.
Pro's TipThe second of our risk reward Par 4s. A narrow opening off the tee often frightens many players; that said, the landing zone widens after passing 150 yards. The best aim from the tee is towards the greenside bunker allowing the ball to take the camber of the fairway back to the middle; shots landing on the right side of the fairway are likely to feed into the ditch. Long hitters may be tempted to get close to the green, but beware of the undulating surroundings nearer the green that aren't visible from the tee that catch many players by surpise.

Dog-leg, uphill par 4 which slopes left to right. A blind second shot unless you can hit it over the ridge.. OOB on right and internally to the left alongside 16th fairway. Safety: wait for bell from group in front before hitting blind shots to green
Pro's TipThe 8th hole is regarded as one of the toughest on the course with the hole playing as a dog-leg left uphill, around gorse with out of bounds on the right and left. The tee shot ideally requires a 200+ yd shot curving with the shape of the hole as the fairway cambers considerably to the right with balls gathering underneath the canopy of the tree line. A blind 2nd shot over the hill often fools players with club selection. I would always advise walking to the top of the hill to see where the flag is whilst taking an extra club into one of the largest, flattest greens on the course.

Uphill, doglegged par 5 with OOB all along the left and to the rear of green. Safety: beware when crossing public footpath en route from the 8th. Public have right of way on footpath crossing in front of the Gold tee.
Pro's TipOur only Par 5 on the course poses a challenge for all golfers. Like the 8th hole, it contours uphill and dog-legs to the left around neighbouring property. Most golfers are guaranteed a sloping lie on either second or third shot with it being blind over the hill. It is tempting to aim approach shots to the right edge of the green with the slope of the hole, but beware, bunkers lurk to the right of the green demanding a prescise shot.

Short but challenging par 4 with approach shots to an elevated, deceptively sloping green. Out of bounds all along the left and to back of green. Safety: wait for bell or until you can see the group in front at the green before teeing off. Use the path down the slope.
Pro's TipThe 10th hole is one of my personal favourites. The view from the tee isn't clear, the shot is to the right of the green which is positioned on a plateau. Having safely navigated your tee shot, the approach needs to be played to the left side of the green allowing it to feed back to the middle of the green. Any shots missed right of the green end up leaving 30 yards minimum for your next shot.

High stroke index par 3, but don't expect it to be easy as the ditch in front of green gathers many tee shots Safety: allow those on 12th gold tee to go first. Be aware of tee shots from 11th and 12th on return from green
Pro's TipThe shortest hole on the course is by no means the easiest. From the tee the green looks like an easy target although beware, the green plays considerably smaller due to it being an upside down bowl. Only precise tee shots are rewarded here.

Dog leg par 4 which many members regard as our most difficult hole. Safety: if going for the green make sure it is clear before playing
Pro's TipAnother hole that at face value seems straight forward although catches out golfers of all abilities. A tee shot as far down the fairway as possible is most desirable to ensure a clearer shot to the green. The temptation is to take a bold line from the tee down the left side however it would leave a challenging second shot. Aiming towards the right side opens the green and allows an easier, although longer, second shot. There is no shame in playing this hole as though it is a par 5, many players will.

Uphill, dogleg par 4 where, for most golfers, the shot to the green is blind. Safety: wait for bell from group in front before hitting blind shot to green.
Pro's TipThe tee shot is as you see it with the fairway sloping from left to right towards the gorse lining the right side of the hole. A blind second shot regularly catches golfers out taking a braver line than required. A walk to the top of the hill is always advised to get your line. Remember, with such an elevation change taking an extra club is always a good choice to avoid finishing short of the green.

Views across to Poole Harbour and Corfe Castle from the elevated tee. Safety: wait for bell from group in front before teeing off. A big shout of FORE if your shot leaks right or left.
Pro's TipA blind tee shot that doesn't offer much danger. Favouring the right side of the fairway from the tee leaves a better angle to this green which slopes from left to right. If the flag is at the front of the green please don't fall foul to being too precise with your approach shot as the ditch short of the green often catches shots from those trying to be too delicate. A shot to the heart of this green is always the best option.

Lovely par three across the pond to a narrow three tier green. OOB on the left. Safety: Do not tee off if there are golfers on the path to left of green.
Pro's TipOur signature hole, a pretty par 3 that bites back at those who don't hit this incredibly narrow green. The challenge doesn't stop by hitting the green, with 3 tiers it's important to ensure you leave an uphill putt if you're not on the correct tier. A high score is often seen when the green is missed to the left. Those who miss this green to the right leave themselves an uphill chip from what typically will be a lush lie.

Par 4 with two fairway bunkers over the hill which can catch longer hitters out. Safety: wait for bell from group in front before teeing off
Pro's TipAnother blind tee shot, trusting the marker post on top of the hill. Accuracy is key from the tee as you can't see the bunkers lurking on the right and left side of the fairway as you go over the hill. The hardest part of this hole is playing your approach shot. Typically you will be playing from a downslope to a green below you, it's always best to remember to take a club less when approaching the green as there is no room long.

A par 4 which usually plays longer that it looks due to prevailing wind and the fact that it is deceptively uphill. Practise area to the right is OOB, as is the field behind the green.
Pro's TipBased on yardage this isn't a challenging hole, it becomes more difficult by the encroaching trees 100 yards in front of the tee on the left forcing players to aim towards the right side of the hole which restricts the view of the green. The ideal play is to try to draw a shot from the tee leaving your shot on the left side of the fairway making the approach shot easier. Typically played into wind

Par 4 where the positioning of the narrow tee box forces an aim to the left. Safety: gardens/houses to the right are OOB. Report any balls entering the gardens to Proshop.
Pro's TipWith out-of-bounds lining the entire right side of the hole and some of our largest trees on the course guarding the left side an accurate tee shot is required. Players usually get unstuck by chasing pin positions tucked on the edges of the green which are guarded at the front by bunkers ready to punish any shot not played precisely. A par to close your round is always a welcome score on 18.
